LEVEL II - Certificate in Midwifery 
ADMISSION CRITERIA

  1. A Graduate of Level I of the College of Health Sciences of the Step-Ladder Curriculum will be accepted to the Level II (Midwifery Program).
  2. A Transferee will be accepted after thorough evaluation of subjects by the college admission committee.
  3. A Student disqualified in other departments for any major offense will not be admitted.
  4. A Student who fails in the major and preparatory subjects will not be allowed to enroll.  However, he may be allowed to enroll the minor subjects only.
  5. No student with any deficiency in the Second level be allowed to graduate. However, in the course of completion of the said deficiency(s), the students is allowed to enroll in some subjects without requirements in the next level.
  6. The student is required to accomplish twenty (20) actual delivery cases before promotion to the next level in preparation for the Midwifery Board Examinations.

           In case the student fails to complete the above Midwifery requirements in the 2nd level, he is allowed to continue to the 3rd level simultaneously completing his delivery cases. And provided however, that he takes the Midwifery Licensure Exams for Midwives in the 3rd level.
PROMOTION AND RETENTION POLICIES

  1. A. Student who incurs a 20% (of the) absence of the total no. of hours in a particular subject will be automatically dropped. The same policy applies to the Clinical Work Experience.
  2. Any student who has a total failure of 40% a semestral load will not be allowed to continue.
  3. Any student who fails twice in any major subject will not be allowed to continue. A student shall only be allowed to repeat a failed subject once.
  4. A female student who gets pregnant is encouraged to go on leave until she delivers. Should she decide to continue, the student is required to drop major subjects including Clinical Work Experience. A waiver should be signed by the student, sparing the university of any liability.

POLICIES ON MAKE UP DUTY:

  1. Three consecutive records of tardiness will be equivalent to a half-day duty considered unexcused.
  2. Excused absences will be on 1:1 ratio.
  3. For every unexcused absence, a 1:3 ratio will be enforced. A make-up fee will be collected from the students to be paid at the cashier’s office.
  4. Any student who commits an act negligence or malpractice in the Clinical Work Experience shall submit an Incident Report duly signed by the student, Clinical Instructor and the staff nurse on duty to be submitted to the Dean of the College. A Committee formed by the Dean shall investigate and evaluate the incident and apply appropriate sanction.

POLICIES ON REVIEW CLASSES:

    • A review class for the Midwifery Licensure Examination will be conducted by the College every Saturday and Sunday from January to March.
