Level I - Certificate in Health Aid

POLICIES ON ADMISSION

1. Admission of students shall be based on intellectual, aptitudinal and personal preparedness irrespective of sex, religion, belief, political, affiliation, age, marital status and regional origin or nationality.

2. The university administration shall determine the number of students to be admitted each school year.

3. Priority will be given to applicants coming from unserved, underserved areas of the Philippines.

4. Students previously disqualified from other colleges institutes and or universities for cause (eg. moral considerations) shall be bared from admission.

5. Applicants must satisfy the requirements imposed by the university and the college.

6. For transferees, they must pass the UNP College Admission Test and present their certificate of honorable dismissal.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION 

1. High School Diploma
2. Form 138
3. Certificate from the principal of the Secondary School that the applicant has a good moral character.
4. Must pass the UNP CAT at least 75%.
5. Certificate from a government physician that the applicant is physically and mentally fit to enroll in the CHS.

POLICIES FOR PROMOTION / RETENTION

1. The maximum allowable number of failure of a student per semester is 3 subjects. Failure in 4 or more subjects will be a ground for dismissal in the college. If a student accumulates nine (9) failures at the end of his 2nd year he can no more enroll in the university.

2. No student with any deficiency in the 1st level should be allowed to graduate however, the student can take advance general education subjects.

3. A student who incurs failures in subjects equivalent to at least 40% of the total semestral load will not be allowed to continue.

4. Any student who obtains a failing grade twice in a major subject will not be allowed to continue. A student will be allowed to repeat a failed subject only once.

5. A Student who fails in a subject which is a prerequisite to another subject, can not advance to the next.

Example: English I to English II 

6. A married student must submit a copy of the marriage contract.

7. A female student who gets pregnant during the seminar is courage to go on leave to protect her health and so as not to jeopardized her fetus. However, should she decide to continue the subject, she must sign a waiver sparing the University of any liability. 

8. The student must undergo the COPAR Training prior to clinical work experience in the community

9. A student must undergo general orientation in the hospital before the clinical experience.

Activities of 1st level, Health Aide

I – COPAR (UNP Venue – Training Center)

  • Allotted Time – 3 days 
  • Placement – First Semester, 1st year before they will be exposed to the community.

General Objectives: 

After 3 days training, using the COPAR principles, the students will be able to apply the community health care process in the care of the own community.

Specific Objectives:
1. assess the community.
2. define the community’s strengths and needs.
3. design a plan of care.
4. assist in the implementation of plan.
5. assist in the evaluation of the care done in the community.
6. know the community health worker’s activities and functions.
7. able to know the steps of health care process.
8. discuss how the health care process is applied in the care of communities.
9. identify important data before entry in the community.
10. student will be able to draw inferences to determine need/ problem of a client.
11. able to state COPAR principles and strategies in the identification of problems in the community.

II. Hospital General Orientation

  • Allotted Time – 1 day
  • Placement: 2nd semester – 1st year Before they will have their experience in the hospital
  • Venue : GSGH, Tamag

Objectives:

1. to familiarize the students to the physical set up of the hospital.
2. to orient the students of the different services rendered by the hospital.
3. to know and be familiar the students to the different personnel in the hospital.
